When you move files in the 4ALLPORTAL, you break the links between the files and InDesign documents.

The 4ALLPORTAL InDesign plugin can easily restore these links.

  1. Within the 4ALLPORTAL, you move the files to their new destination as usual using drag & drop in the directory tree.
Please note that this article is explicitly about moving files.

  2. As a result, the status of the metadata field “InDesign plugin status” in the detail view of the affected InDesign document changes to “Open (due to change)”. In addition, in the list “Linked files”, you will see a yellow exclamation point next to the affected files. If you opened the document with InDesign, you would get warnings due to faulty links.

  1. Now start the analysis as described in the Analyze InDesign documents article.

Since the 4ALLPORTAL has a kind of “understanding” of which file should be linked to which document, along with how it has been displaced, the plugin now automatically corrects the links.

The plugin saves documents…

Please note that the plugin will save the InDesign document anew when links are repaired. This can lead to a change in the InDesign version with which the document can be opened. See also the behavior rules in the article Working with the InDesign plugin.
