PowerPoint is required in the Microsoft 365 version (both locally and in the browser). The PowerPoint plugin from version 5.0 uses the PowerPoint API. This is only available for Microsoft 365. Older Microsoft/Office versions are not supported.
Microsoft Edge WebView 2
The PowerPoint task pane uses Microsoft Edge as the browser. For the plugin to work, the Microsoft Edge WebView 2 tool must be installed on a user's computer. Make sure it is installed on all users' computers.
If required, you can download it here (select "Evergreen Bootstrapper").
Please note: WebView 2 comes by default with Windows 11, and may come with Windows 10 depending on the upgrade status.
Required 4Apps
The functions of the PowerPoint plugin become available with the installation and activation of 4App "PowerPoint Plugin":
PowerPoint Plugin (4allportal-object_selection_ppt), version 5.0 or higher
The installed and activated 4App unlocks a download in the profile of each user, which provides the file `manifest.xml`. This is needed to integrate the plugin into PowerPoint.
App Dependencies
To use version 5 of the PowerPoint plugin, the following 4Apps must also be installed in your 4ALLPORTAL:
Core Engine (4allportal-core), version 3.10.20 or higher
Digital Asset Management (4allportal-dam), version 3.10 or higher
Essentials (4allportal-essentials), version 3.10 or higher
Object Picker (4allportal-object_selection), version 4.1.1 or higher (when installing the 4App PowerPoint plugin, the Object Picker is automatically installed).
App Management Documentation
Administrators can find all information about how to install 4Apps here.
4App Updates
If an update for the PowerPoint Plugin is available, you will get an information in the system's App Management. You just need to proceed the update to receive the improvements.
Update manifest.xml
Please note:For some updates it is necessary to update the manifest.xml, too. This will be mentioned in the Release Notes. After updating the plugin, just download the new manifest and replace the old file with the updated one.
Login via AD and SSO
Version 5.0 of this plugin supports a central login via AD connectors and Single Sign-On (SSO). If you already use both for your 4ALLPORTAL, it is also available for the login via the plugin.
The required instructions and settings can be found in the technical 4App documentation here.
