Mass tagging allows you to tag selected files with metadata jointly.

The principle operates the same way as folder-based tagging. The difference is that rather than tagging files via the folder, you select multiple files that you would like to tag jointly. This allows you to tag large numbers of files simultaneously, regardless of the folder where they are located.

  1. Open the Files module or a collection.

  2. Select any files in the main view. You have to select at least two files for the "Mass tagging" action to become available in the toolbox.

  3. Click the "Mass tagging" icon in the toolbox to open the input window for mass tagging.

  4. Enter the desired metadata for tagging into the fields shown.

  5. Select "Type of change" to set the behavior for mass tagging.

  6. If necessary, select the option "Delete all values for this field."

  7. Click the "Save" button to confirm your input. The window will close immediately.

  8. Tagging will proceed in the background. Depending on how many files/assets you are tagging simultaneously, it may take some time to fully complete the tagging process and save the tags.

Note: If the mass tagging function is unavailable, you may lack the necessary user permissions. Please contact your company’s IT administrator

1. Metadata Field

In the available metadata fields, enter the metadata that you want to use to tag the files in this folder.

2. Type of Change

Click the drop-down list to determine how mass tagging should handle existing metadata. Various types of change are available; you can use them to set the behavior for each field type.

Type of change:

  • Overwrite existing value(s) (all field types)
  • Only add data if there are no values (all field types)
  • Add values to list (only fields of the type "List")
  • Add values to list - redundant values are permitted (only fields of the type "List")
  • Delete values from list (only fields of the type "List")

You can find further information in section Type of Change.

3. Delete Values

Click the checkbox "Delete all values for this field" to activate the process of deleting all metadata for the respective field.

4. Image Scroll Bar

Displays the files selected for mass tagging.

If there is a large number of objects displayed, you can hover the mouse cursor over the image scroll bar and use your mouse wheel to scroll through the images.

Alternatively, arrow icons that allow you to scroll up and down will be displayed above and below the image scroll bar.
