The DAM system allows for the upload of archive files in formats such as ZIP or RAR. The import manager allows you to extract archives in an import package and import files/assets from the archives. The benefit here is that you don’t need to extract the archives to your computer before importing them to the DAM system. Additionally, the folder structures in the archives are maintained during the import and recreated in the upload folder in the system.

The following archive formats can be extracted:

.zip, .7z, .rar*, .arj, .gz, .bz2, .xz, .wim*

Of course you don’t have to extract archives; you can also import an archive as a file. Naturally, then you won’t see the contents of the archive; the archive will appear as a single file in the DAM system.

Note: Support for various archive formats may vary depending on the type of server (Linux CentOS or Windows Server). Linux does not support WIM format. Linux may not support some types of RAR archive. If an archive format is not supported, this will be indicated by the fact that the action "Extract archive" is unavailable. If an archive contains folders without file contents, the empty folder will not be included when the archive is extracted.

  1. Upload an archive file to an upload folder. You can also mix archives with normal files during the upload process.

  2. Open the import package and look for the archive file in the list.

  3. Click the "three dots" icon for the archive file to open the file-based action menu.

  4. Click the "Extract archive" icon to extract the files from the archive in the import package.

  5. You will now see the files from the archive in the list. The archive file was removed from the list during the extraction process.

  6. Click the "Import all files" icon to start the import process. Please note that you cannot import the files until the checking process is complete.

The system will execute the import process in the background.

Note: The system will start importing data into the upload folder during the import process; it will also generate new image previews at the same time. It might take some time until all files/assets are available in the folder with their previews.
